Puppy/Kitten Packages

Our puppy/kitten wellness packages are designed to help get your puppy/kitten started on the right path to a long and healthy life. Until your puppy/kitten has received the proper series of vaccines, they are susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We will make sure your new puppy/kitten is protected against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, feline leukemia, and bordetella (kennel cough) among other diseases. The packages also include the first monthly dose of flea, tick and heartworm prevention as well as two deworming doses and a fecal test to ensure your pet is parasite free.

We offer a wide variety of surgeries for cats/dogs including spays, neuters, foreign body probes, dental cleanings, abscess repairs and more. All surgeries are done daily with the patient going home the same day in a majority of cases. Written or verbal estimates are offered for most surgeries to insure transparency. We offer comprehensive bundles for some surgeries that include the anesthesia and monitoring, pre-anesthetic blood work, and more. Drop-off times for surgeries is between 8:30am - 9am, 7 days a week. Always make sure to fast, withhold food, your pet the night before the procedure after 10pm.

Diagnostic Testing

Our primary diagnostic tool is the knowledge and expertise our doctors possess from advanced training and extensive experience with a wide variety of critical and complicated cases. Our
diagnostic abilities includes but not limited to:

In House Blood Testing: In addition to the physical examination, our veterinarians use blood tests and other laboratory work to better assess your pets health. These blood tests give us a “baseline”
of what is normal for your pet. Blood tests are very valuable in the early detection of diseases in pets. In house we currently have analyzers for the complete blood count, and serum chemistries/electrolytes . If needed we also send blood to IDEXX Reference Laboratory for further analysis. When sending blood samples to IDEXX it generally takes 1-3 days to get the results back.

Digital radiology: Another tool to help us figure out what’s wrong with your pet is our digital radiography machine. We routinely use x-rays to help identify the cause of the problem, rule out possible problems, or provide a list of possible causes. We may also recommend x-rays during a wellness exam to diagnose potential problems before they become too serious. X-rays provide valuable information about a pet’s bones structure, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate).

Diagnostic Ultrasound: Ultrasounds are a great, non-invasive form of diagnosing various internal conditions. It provides a visual mapping of the internal cavity and organs and thus aids in producing a definitive diagnosis. We schedule ultrasound appointments with board certified pathologist when necessary.

Ophthalmology: We perform fluorescein dye ocular stains to aid in diagnosing eye injuries/conditions such as corneal ulcers, and many others. Depending on the severity of the case, we also work with and highly recommend Dr. Faber at Animal Vision Center.

SNAP/Antigen Testing:  SNAP/Antigen tests are efficient ways of getting diagnostic results in a timely manner. They generally take between 10-15 minutes to get most results. Some of the tests we offer in house include diseases/conditions such as parvovirus, pancreatitis, FeLV, FIV, and heartworm. Timely diagnosis of these conditions helps us in providing the necessary treatment as soon as possible.

Flea/Heartworm Prevention

Here at Family Friends we offer a wide variety of flea/tick/heartworm prevention to help accommodate your pet's needs. Some of the brands we offer include Nexgard, Bravecto, Comfortis, Revolution, Heartgard, and the Proheart injection. These are all offered by prescription from the veterinarian and are some of the best on the market. Call us if you have any questions or concerns!

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 7 days a week who are equipped to handle any urgent care your pet may have. Emergencies can be things such as snail/rat bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate/marijuana ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately but it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We are also available for urgent care or information when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians and staff do our best to fit you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
