We're pleased to offer the following services at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital:
We are open 7 days a week and take appointments from 9 am - 6 pm. Our appointments are computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our staff always does their best to ensure your pet is seen in a timely manner. Exams start at $29 with recheck/additional pet exams dropping down to $19. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. We do accept walk-in appointments but wait times may vary depending on how busy we are with appointments.
Our puppy/kitten wellness packages are designed to help get your puppy/kitten started on the right path to a long and healthy life. Until your puppy/kitten has received the proper series of vaccines, they are susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We will make sure your new puppy/kitten is protected against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, feline leukemia, and bordetella (kennel cough) among other diseases. The packages also include the first dose of flea, tick and heartworm prevention as well as two deworming doses and a fecal test to ensure your pet is parasite free.
We offer a wide variety of surgeries for both cats and dogs including spays, neuters, foreign body probes, dental cleanings, abscess repairs and more. All surgeries are done daily with the patient going home the same day in most cases. Written or verbal estimates are offered for most surgeries to insure transparency. We offer comprehensive bundles for some surgeries that include anesthesia and monitoring, pre-anesthetic blood work, and more. Drop-off times for surgeries is between 8:30am - 9am, 7 days a week. Always make sure to fast, withhold food, your pet the night before the procedure after 10pm.
Our primary diagnostic tool is the knowledge and expertise our doctors possess from advanced training and extensive experience with a wide variety of critical and complicated cases. Our
diagnostic abilities includes but not limited to:
In House Blood Testing: In addition to the physical examination, our veterinarians use blood tests and other laboratory work to better assess your pets health. These blood tests give us a “baseline”
of what is normal for your pet. Blood tests are very valuable in the early detection of diseases in pets. We have in house complete blood count, blood electrolytes and blood chemistry machine to get results immediately. If needed we also send blood to reference laboratory for further analysis.
Digital radiology: When we need to figure out what’s wrong with your pet, we routinely use x-rays to help identify the cause of the problem, rule out possible problems, or provide a
list of possible causes. We may also use x-rays during a wellness exam to diagnose potential problems before they become serious. X-rays provide valuable information about a pet’s bones/spine, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate).
Diagnostic Ultrasound: Ultrasounds are a great, non-invasive form of diagnosing various internal conditions. It provides a visual mapping of the internal cavity and organs and thus aids in producing a diagnosis. We schedule ultrasound appointments with board certified pathologist when necessary.
Ophthalmology: We offer Schirmer testing and fluorescein dye stains to aid in diagnosing eye injuries/conditions such as corneal ulcers, "dry eye" and others.
Snap /Antigen Testing: Snap/Antigen tests are great ways to get diagnostic results in a timely manner as they usually take between 5-15 minutes to get results. At FFVH, we offer various snap tests to diagnose potentially lethal conditions right away which includes conditions such as parvo, pancreatitis, FeLV, FIV, and heartworm. Timely diagnosis of these conditions helps us in providing necessary treatment right away.
Here at Family Friends we offer a wide variety of flea and tick prevention to help meet your pet's needs. Some brands we sell include Nexgard, Bravecto, Comfortis and Revolution. These are all offered by prescription from the veterinarian and are the best on the market.Emergency & Urgent Care
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 7 days a week who are equipped to handle any urgent care your pet may have. Emergencies can be things such as snail/rat bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately but it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care or information when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians and staff do our best to fit you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
